Newsletters to inspire!

When my oldest daughter started dreading school, especially lunchtime, I began writing & illustrating colorful "lunch-cards" to make her smile and laugh. Soon school lunch became fun as the kids crowded to see each new card! I launched KidsFunCards.com and this e-newsletter in the hopes that I could help other kids be excited, not afraid or lonely, and look forward to going to school!

NO Ranch dressing
Ranch Dressing
Kids "favorite" dip

Hidden Valley Ranch.... our favorite Ranch dressing, is loaded with MSG and artificial flavors, unfortunately, like most salad dressings found in a "regular" grocery store. It's hard to find an "all natural" alternative after getting used to all the bad stuff, but we all know we have to to raise healthy kids...right!?  ranch dressing winners
We tested MANY Ranch dressings, and although nothing matched the MSG fortified Hidden Valley, here are some the kids liked a lot, and are worth switching over to! "Organics" organic Ranch DressingBolthouseFarms Creamy Yogurt Classic Ranch Dressing and Trader Joe's Organic Creamy Ranch Dressing & Dip.
Give them a try!

Harry & David Peanut ButterIn December I was in Harry & David at our local Outlet Mall. They were taste testing Creamy Raspberry (our favorite), Caramel, and Banana Peanut Spread. When I saw them my eyes lit up, when I tasted them I was as excited as my kids on Christmas morning. This is NOT like the Goober jam/peanut butter horror of our childhood...the hint of raspberry, caramel or banana is bliss in your mouth- I can't tell you how excited I am to make peanut butter cookies.... these are, so far, my FAVORITE lunchbox find... at least till next month!

Glue & Glitter

Hi! My name is Becky Striepe and I am an independent crafter living in Atlanta, Georgia.
My passion is working with vintage fabric and salvaged materials. There's just something about giving found objects a brand new life that really appeals to me. They lend their own stories to everything I make!
My indie business, Glue and Glitter, is all about using existing materials in products that help folks waste less without feeling deprived. I believe in the power of little changes: using cloth napkins instead of paper or a reu

Even the act of cooking is so much greener than takeout when you consider all of the packaging and whatnot involved in ordering that Chinese delivery. If a Lunch Kit would get you packing your lunch for work or school, or a cute apron encourages you to get in the kitchen and put a meal together, I hope that I can make one to inspire you!
I hope you come visit me at Glue and Glitter to see all my colorful lunch kits and more!

Recycle binRecycle your plastic grocery bags!
I just recently decided to regard the "Recycle Plastic Bags" bin inside my local Vons store.  Within two weeks I had shopped enough to receive enough plastic bags to FILL the back of my minivan- shocking! I felt a rush of accomplishment when I shoved pile after pile into that bin.

Considering their somewhat placid appearance, the impact of plastic bags on the environment is devastating. If you forget to bring in your cloth bags- bring those plastics back to the bin!
